After weeks of trying to find time to put the finishing touches to the new Charlie’s Aunt PDF pattern, I have finally listed it today in the Etsy shop.
The ‘Brideshead Bag’ has a similar shape to the popular Sophia Bag but is made in a totally different way. It has an oval-shaped set in base and a curved front pocket. It is also much bigger than the Sophia Bag, making it practical for everyday use.
I’ve made it up in three very different fabrics and intend to keep and use all three. I made the plum coloured version in wool tweed with a leather pocket. Using leather made it slightly more tricky to set the base in, especially with the double thickness of fabric on the pocket, but I figured if I could stitch it with leather, then every other fabric would be a breeze!
The checked version is Harris Tweed with suede and the blue version is made from Trefriw woollen mill’s glorious woven wool Welsh tapestry, with a purchased handle and leather flap in toning blue. I hope you’ll send me pictures of your Bridehead Bags when you’ve made them.
Off now to photograph the new colours I have for autumn in English moleskin. This beautiful quality fabric continues to be popular and I have it in a deep plum and pine green – two colours which are really huge this winter. I will be listing some moleskin kits with leather straps for the Poacher’s Bag on Sunday.
